Year 1 Class Page
The National Curriculum
The areas of learning within the National Curriculum for Key Stage 1 are:
Design and Technology
Art and Design
Personal, Social and Health Education (including British Values and age appropriate Relationships Education, during which we use the NSPCC website https://www.nspcc.org.uk/preventing-abuse/keeping-children-safe/underwear-rule/). You can see our Relationships policy on the policy page of our website.
At Grasvenor, children's learning is topic based and comprised of high quality active learning experiences and levels of challenge which are appropriate for each individual in order to prepare our children for the ever changing world in which we live.
Your child’s progress throughout the year will be documented on our online learning journey platform Evernote. This will include observations, pictures and audio notes. Evernote has a work chat facility which we use as a means of communication between Parents/Carers and classroom staff.
Outings and Trips
During your child’s school year, we endeavour to go on several school trips. These include visiting museums in London (which means we will be travelling by tube), performances etc.
We encourage parents & carers to try and come on at least one of them. (Unfortunately we can not accommodate siblings on these trips.)
School will provide lunch for these trips, and your child will need the following: - Waterproof Coat - Sensible Shoes for walking (trainers are allowed)
