Support Your Child's Learning at Home

At Grasvenor we believe that children should be able to explore, experiment and enjoy learning without feeling pressured. This is why we do not give formal homework to our children. We understand that parents and carers want to support the learning which their children do at school while they are at home, so a weekly overview of the learning planned for the following school week can be found on the newsletter every week.

We also encourage parents and carers to read with their children. It is great for parents and carers to share storybooks as well as 'reading books' with their children and we find that little and often works best! Each child will be given regular opportunities to choose a book from the library to take home and share with their family. All children will also receive a reading book, once they are ready for it within their learning. Please remember to write in their reading record book to let us know that you have shared the book. For more information about our banded reading books please look in the 'Our week at school' section of the website.
